Following a pair of EP releases — 2001’s Three and 4AM — BJ The Chicago Child pairs with producer Yeti Beats (Doja Cat, Burna Boy) for his newest challenge Gravy.
“My father loves Al Inexperienced, and I’ve at all times dreamed of recording a soul album in Memphis,” explains Yeti. “When the chance got here up, BJ was my ultimate collaborator—I think about BJ to be one of many biggest voices in soul/r&b right now. His information of and fervour for soul music formed the genuine sound of this album.”
“Gravy is the persona of what the brand new cool is. It’s that feeling while you’re at your best possible, bought in your greatest garments, exuding confidence in each step and phrase,” BJ provides. “This challenge embodies the very essence of the way you carry your self, how you say your authority, and the way you rise to the event. In essence, it’s the soul of the music, and in flip, the music turns into the gravy that defines me.”
Locked in with 15 tracks, together with “Liquor Store In The Sky” with Freddie Gibbs “Spend the Night” with Coco Jones, the album has extra options from Chloe Bailey, Robert Glasper, Phillip Bailey, Cory Henry, and Andra Day.
