Thou is again with their first non-collaborative album since 2018 and a crushing single to kick issues off. Thou is now streaming “I Really feel Nothing When You Cry” from their new document Umbilical, due out Could 31 through Sacred Bones Information. After all none of that is to say Thou hasn’t been busy – since 2018, they’ve launched collaborative data with The Body, Emma Ruth Rundle, and Mizmor alongside a boatload of compilations.
“They’ve known as us anarchists, criminals, overseas meddlers, lunatics, dispossessed, relativists, utilitarians, egoists, ardour maximizers, ascetics, negators of all the pieces,” mentioned Thou. “Clearly, the Thou experiment is rarely going to enchantment to audiences who demand that artwork rigorously implement a coherent and righteous worldview.
“And but, are we not ourselves constrained by our personal inflexible morality? In these quiet moments of deep contemplation, when the bargains and concessions are totally examined, once we yield earlier than the Judging Eye–what’s the summation of our selections? If the unspoiled self past the immensity of time got voice, what pronouncements could be made? What would such an inner audit yield? What simple character could be revealed?
“This document is for the radicals, the crackpots, the exiles who’ve escaped the wasteland of capitulation. This document is for the militants and zealots refusing to give up to comforts, to practicalities, to thirty items of silver. And this document is most particularly for the weaklings and malingerers, burdened by capricious indulgence, hunched by the deep wounds of compromise, shuffling in limp approximation, desperately reaching again in direction of integrity and conviction.”
